A1 Housekeeper Agency
MOM Licence 23C1767
For 15 years, we have recruited, trained and deployed Myanmar helpers to more than 1,000 Singapore households. Since 2019, every helper has been trained at EMK Maid School in Insein, Yangon—by coaches who were themselves domestic helpers in Singapore.
A1 Housekeeper is a MOM-licensed employment agency (Licence Number 23C1767) specialising in Myanmar domestic helpers. We are not a general maid agency buying candidates from brokers. Since 2019, every helper we place has been trained at EMK Maid School in Insein, Yangon—our own school, staffed by former Singapore domestic helpers who know exactly what a Singapore household demands. This is why we can deploy a fresh Myanmar helper to your home in as fast as one week, and why our helpers arrive already prepared for the realities of family life in Singapore.
Our Story: How A1 Housekeeper Began
A1 Housekeeper began in 2011, when Mike Yeo, our founder, saw how many Singapore families were struggling to find reliable help—and how many Myanmar helpers were arriving unprepared for the realities of working in a Singapore household.
The gap was not supply. It was preparation. Helpers were being sourced through brokers, placed without adequate language skills or caregiving training, and employers were left to manage the fallout. In 2019, Mike opened EMK Maid School in Insein, Yangon, to close that gap at the source.
Fifteen years later, that principle has not changed. We still recruit directly, train before deployment, and tell employers honestly what to expect.
EMK Maid School - Insein, Yangon
EMK Maid School was established in Insein, Yangon, in 2019. It is our own training school, and every Myanmar helper placed by A1 Housekeeper has passed through it before flying to Singapore.
What makes EMK different:
Our teachers are former Singapore domestic helpers.
Our teachers and coaches are ex-Singapore maids with real infant care and elderly care experience. They have worked in Singapore households. They know what a working couple expects, how an elderly parent behaves on a difficult day, and what it feels like to arrive in a new country without the language. They teach from experience, not from a textbook.
We train for the household you actually have.
Our training is built around a specific profile: a typical Singapore family with a working couple, an elderly parent, and two young children. That is not a hypothetical—it is the household most of our employers live in, and it is what our training is designed for.
We train in language first.
Our main focus is language: oral English and Chinese. A helper who can understand instructions, ask questions, and communicate concerns is a helper who settles in faster and makes fewer mistakes. Chinese-language training is particularly valuable for households where an elderly parent speaks Mandarin or dialect at home.

What We Believe
We believe control at the source changes everything.
Most agencies in Singapore buy candidates from brokers. We do not. Because we own EMK Maid School in Yangon, we interview every helper ourselves, verify every document ourselves, and train every helper ourselves. There is no chain of agents, no lost paperwork, no waiting for a third party to respond.
We believe training should be taught by people who have done the job.
Our coaches were domestic helpers in Singapore. That is not a marketing line—it is the reason our training works. They teach what they lived.
We believe both sides deserve to succeed.
A placement that works for the employer but leaves the helper isolated and overwhelmed is not a success. It is a delayed failure. We measure ourselves by whether both parties are still together a year later.
We believe language is the foundation.
Communication is the root of most placement breakdowns. That is why oral English and Chinese sit at the centre of our training—and why we developed our own Oral English Syllabus for Myanmar Helpers.
We believe speed and care are not opposites.
We can deploy in as fast as one week because preparation happens at EMK before the helper flies—not because we skip steps. Speed comes from owning the process, not from cutting corners.
We believe in transparency.
You will know the costs, the timeline, and the risks before you commit. No hidden fees, no pressure, no surprises after signing.
What We Do
What A1 Housekeeper Does
We recruit and train at EMK Maid School in Yangon.
Our team in Myanmar interviews candidates in person, verifies their documents, checks their references, and puts them through training at EMK. Only helpers who complete the programme enter our pool. No brokers, no sub-agents, no handovers.
We train in language, infant care and elderly care.
Every helper receives training in oral English and Chinese, infant care and elderly care at EMK before deployment. This is the stage most agencies skip—and the reason many placements fail. It is also what makes a fast timeline possible: training happens while the paperwork is processed, not after arrival.
We handle the MOM process.
Work permit application, security bond, medical insurance, personal accident insurance, Settling-In Programme registration and GIRO setup. Because documents are prepared and verified in Myanmar, we submit to MOM immediately upon your selection. We manage all of it on your behalf.
We deploy to Singapore households.
Most of the employers we serve are working women who need dependable support with children, elderly parents or household management. A member of our team personally brings your helper to your home and conducts an orientation on your routines and expectations.
We stay after placement.
We check in with both employer and helper, mediate when issues arise, and manage replacements under our guarantee.

What Our Helpers Learn at EMK Maid School
Our Training Concept. Before any Myanmar helper is deployed to your home, she completes training at EMK Maid School in Insein, Yangon. The programme is built around the household our employers actually have—a working couple, an elderly parent, and two young children.
Oral English — understanding and following household instructions, asking questions, and communicating concerns. Poor communication is the single most common cause of placement breakdown.
Oral Chinese — basic conversational Mandarin for households where an elderly parent speaks Chinese at home. This is particularly valuable in multi-generational Singapore families.
Infant and childcare — feeding, hygiene, safety awareness, recognising illness, and age-appropriate care for two young children at different stages.
Elderly care — mobility assistance, medication reminders, fall prevention, and respectful personal care for an ageing parent.
Household Chores such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, errands, and accompanying children to school safely, etc.
Taught by former Singapore helpers — every coach at EMK has worked as a domestic helper in Singapore. They teach from lived experience, not from a manual.
This training is not a selling point. It is the reason our placements last—and the reason a one-week timeline is possible without sacrificing preparation.
